What Is the Price of a Website in South Africa? Three Real Invoices, Line by Line [2026]

This article breaks down three paid New Perspective Design invoices dated November 2025, January 2026 and August 2026. Client names are withheld. Every figure is exactly as invoiced, and items are once-off unless marked monthly.

What Is the Price of a Website in South Africa? The Short Answer

On three real invoices from our studio, the price of a website in South Africa ran from R7,490 to R12,450 for the website itself. The full first invoice ran from R12,239 to R16,099, because the website made up only 47% to 77% of what each client paid upfront.

The rest came from work the website package doesn’t cover: branding for a new business, legal and privacy compliance, a blog, SEO and Google Ads management. Which extras a business needs depends on where it is starting from.

  • New online store with branding (R12,239 first invoice). The store build was R7,490, or 61% of the invoice.
  • Six-page professional services website (R15,980 first invoice). The website was R7,590, or 47% of the invoice.
  • 14-page accounting firm website (R16,099 first invoice). The website was R12,450, or 77% of the invoice.

Invoice 1: A New Online Store That Needed Its Branding Too (November 2025)

This client was launching a product brand from scratch. The online store and the brand identity were built together.

Invoice 1: new online store with branding, November 2025, as invoiced
Line itemWhat it coveredPrice
Online store websiteUp to 15 pages, unlimited product pages, 15 products loaded, cart and checkout, stock management, coupon codes, courier integration with Bobgo or PudoR7,490
Logo design2 initial concepts, 3 rounds of revisions, PDF, JPEG and PNG filesR1,150
Product label designs5 labels at R450 each, 2 concepts and 2 revisions per labelR2,250
Letterhead designPDF and Word templateR350
Email signatureJPEG formatR350
Social media profile setupPage creation, profile and cover imageR450
Website hosting (monthly)Managed web and mail server, SSL, domain registration, 15 GB SSDR199
First invoice totalR12,239

The store itself cost R7,490. Starting the brand from nothing added R4,550 in design work across the logo, labels, letterhead, email signature and social profile. A business that already has its branding skips most of that line.

Note the product count. The package loads 15 products, and the client adds the rest through the store dashboard. When comparing e-commerce website quotes, check how many products each one actually loads.

Invoice 2: A Six-Page Website With Compliance Built In (August 2026)

This client runs a bookkeeping service for customers in the United States. The website had to publish articles and meet privacy expectations from the first day.

Invoice 2: six-page professional services website, August 2026, as invoiced
Line itemWhat it coveredPrice
Six-page website15 edited stock images, WhatsApp chat and contact form, FAQ, testimonials, gallery, Google Maps, on-page SEO, Google Business Profile, Analytics and Search Console integrationR7,590
Blog and resource centreCategories, author profiles, article templates, related posts, publish and update dates, search and filtersR2,990
Cookie consent and privacy controlsConsent handling for analytics, form vendors and email marketingR2,250
Legal pagesPrivacy policy, terms of use, cookie policy, accessibility statement, professional and blog disclaimersR1,580
Technical SEO setup (once-off)Keyword-to-page mapping, custom metadata, canonical controls, sitemap configuration and submissionR1,250
Website hosting (monthly)Managed server, SSL, 50 GB SSD, Redis cacheR320
First invoice totalR15,980

The website package was less than half of this invoice. Compliance alone, the cookie consent controls and legal pages, came to R3,830, close to a quarter of the total.

This is the line cheap quotes leave out. A website that collects personal information through forms needs consent wording and a privacy policy, and in South Africa that falls under POPIA. Our guide to hidden website costs covers what compliance involves.

Invoice 3: A 14-Page Website With Marketing From Month One (January 2026)

This accounting firm needed a dedicated page for each of its services, and wanted enquiries coming in from launch rather than waiting for the website to be found.

Invoice 3: 14-page accounting firm website, January 2026, as invoiced
Line itemWhat it coveredPrice
14-page website25 edited stock images, contact and booking form, newsletter signup, WhatsApp chat, FAQ, testimonials, gallery, Google Maps, on-page SEO, Google integrationsR12,450
SEO (monthly)Optimisation for 2 search entities, backlink building, copy and alt tag optimisation, internal linking audits, monthly reportsR1,899
Google Ads management (monthly)Keyword planning, ad copy testing, bid strategy, conversion tracking. Ad spend is set by the client and paid separatelyR1,750
First invoice totalR16,099

Here the website carried the biggest share of any invoice, 77%. The other R3,649 is marketing that starts in month one and recurs every month after, which makes it a running cost rather than part of the build.

The Google Ads line is a management fee. Ad spend sits on top of it and goes to Google, so a quote that bundles the two needs checking. Ongoing SEO services work the same way: a monthly fee for the work, separate from the build.

What These Three Website Invoices Show

The website package is not the whole invoice

Across the three projects, the website made up between 47% and 77% of the first invoice. Budgeting only for the package price leaves a gap of R3,600 to R8,400 on these projects.

The extras follow the business, not the website

Each invoice added a different kind of work. The new brand needed design. The professional services firm serving international clients needed compliance and a blog. The accounting firm needed marketing. Knowing which group applies to your business is the fastest way to predict your real price.

Price per page drops as the website grows

The six-page website worked out at about R1,265 per page. The 14-page website came to about R889 per page. Much of the setup work, from design system to integrations, gets done once regardless of page count, so larger websites spread it further.

Hosting is a separate monthly line

Website hosting appeared as its own monthly item at R199 and R320 on these invoices, depending on the storage and caching each website needed.

How to Compare Website Quotes in South Africa

Ask every agency for an itemised quote in the same shape as the tables above. Then check four things:

  • Is the website build priced separately from branding, compliance, SEO and hosting?
  • Which items are once-off and which recur monthly?
  • Does any advertising line include ad spend, or only the management fee?
  • How many products, images and pages does the package actually load?

Website Prices in South Africa: Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my website invoice higher than the package price?

A website package covers the build only. Branding, legal pages, cookie consent, blogs, SEO and hosting are separate line items. On three real invoices from our studio, the website made up between 47% and 77% of the first invoice, with the rest coming from those extras.

Is hosting included in the price of a website?

No. Hosting is a separate monthly cost. On the invoices in this article it cost R199 and R320 a month, covering a managed server, SSL certificate, domain registration and email, with the higher tier adding more storage and caching.

Does a Google Ads management fee include ad spend?

No. A management fee pays for the campaign work: keywords, ad copy, bidding and conversion tracking. Ad spend is set by the business and paid to Google on top of the fee. On the invoice in this article, management cost R1,750 a month before any ad spend.

How much do legal and privacy pages add to a website price?

On one real invoice, cookie consent controls cost R2,250 and a set of six legal pages cost R1,580, R3,830 in total. Any website that collects personal information through forms needs consent wording and a privacy policy, so check that a quote includes them.
